HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE PUBLISHER
January 1, 2017 | 3:15 PM EDT
Here we are in 2017, a new year full of possibilities. I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for all the support Le Floridien has been getting since its launch in January 2001. A Special Thanks to those who particularly helped us during 2016.
Thank you to our readers throughout the last 16 years for continuing to look to us to be one of the credible sources of information serving South Florida's Haitian Community. Thank you to our advertisers without whom we could not publish regularly and we are very grateful for your support.
To our Facebook followers: Thanks for sharing our stories, posting comments, and visiting the site (www.lefloridien.com). A special thanks also to everyone who became a part of our stories, whether it was writing guest posts or being featured as a role model for the youngest generation.
As 2017 begins, I look at this upcoming year as another year of hard work and dedication to growing Le Floridien's audience and to making its content even better than ever. As my own personal mission, I always try to improve things from the year before. I always try to compete with myself and outdo what I accomplished previously, and I do this year after year. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don't, but every year I challenge myself even harder to reach my goals.
Le Floridien is entering its 17th year of publication and while the challenges we've faced along the way have been both large and small, we continue to provide this important, free publication to the Haitian community in South Florida. At Le Floridien, we provide rich content to reach a special group in South Florida: Haitians and Haitian-Americans. That makes Le Floridien a unique publication targeting a unique group of consumers in South Florida.
Since the evolution of social media, which has become an integral part of modern society, small publications tend to suffer the most and these past several years have been especially hard for us. But thanks to the hard work and effort of our contributors and staff who continue to help make this publication a vital piece of the Haitian-American community.
We rely only on advertising revenue from local businesses to bring you the best news, legal advice, and medical expertise from our staff and star contributors. We do not organize cultural or social events to generate revenue, we have no affiliation with any political party (here in the US or in Haiti), or any interest in a special economic group whatsoever. That is why, once again, we ask you, our loyal readers and dear friends, to continue referring our services to potential advertisers. When you see a business ad in our paper, mention that you 'saw it in Le Floridien.' This is how we grow. This is the best way you can help this free publication survive. This is how you and I both continue to have a strong and powerful voice throughout Southern Florida.
We are proud of the work we have done to bring you the latest news, to feature people who are making us proud as a community, to highlight the wonderful activities and opportunities that exist throughout the community.
Le Floridien is constantly on the lookout for new contributors, people with character, passion, and a desire to make a difference throughout the community. Our door is wide open to welcome any professional writer capable of bringing something new and fresh as a contributor.
You, the reader, are one of the most important parts of Le Floridien's existence. Taking time out twice a month to pick up this publication to be well-informed about the wonderful events, news, people, and places that are making news throughout our community, is the greatest support we can receive. You make Le Floridien more valuable than ever.
On behalf of the staff at Le Floridien, our wonderful columnists [Patricia Elizee, Esq., Jude Etienne, and Dr. Angelo Gousse], please accept my best wishes for a very happy and prosperous year. May 2017 bring you good health and an abundance of happiness!
