Miami-Dade County Sues to Evict The Dolphin Company from Miami Seaquarium

Date:

(Le Floridien) – Miami-Dade County has filed a lawsuit to evict The Dolphin Company (“MS Leisure”) from the Miami Seaquarium, according to a press release obtained by Le Floridien. This legal action follows a notice of termination served on April 22, 2024, which the company failed to comply with by vacating the premises. As the head of Miami-Dade County government, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has now moved forward with the eviction complaint.

The complaint and a joint statement from Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Raquel Regalado, whose district includes the Seaquarium, emphasize the county’s commitment to the welfare of the Seaquarium’s animals.

“Our ultimate priority has always been to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the hundreds of animals in the Seaquarium’s care, and it’s critical that we proceed in a manner that best protects them,” said Mayor Levine Cava and Commissioner Regalado. “Miami-Dade County continues to believe that the grounds for the termination of the lease are still present, and for that reason, we have decided to continue with the eviction process in court. We expect The Dolphin Company to take the necessary steps to vacate the premises and ensure that the transition is done in a safe and orderly manner, especially for the animals under their care.”

The statement highlights the county’s dedication to the health and wellbeing of the Seaquarium’s animals and thanks residents and advocates for their support and involvement in this matter.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Miami-Dade County remains focused on ensuring a smooth transition and continued care for the animals at the Seaquarium.
