Don’t Miss It! Taste of Karnival Takes Over Little Haiti THIS SUNDAY, June 8 — Haitian Bands & DJs in the Spotlight

Date:

Little Haiti, Miami (Le Floridien) — This coming Sunday, June 8, 2025, the streets of Little Haiti — the heart of South Florida’s Haitian community — will come alive with the sounds, colors, and flavors of the Caribbean and Latin America, as the neighborhood welcomes the inaugural Taste of Karnival Festival.

From 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., NE 2nd Avenue, stretching from 54th Street to 62nd Street, will be transformed into a vibrant cultural corridor filled with live music, dance performances, food vendors, and artisan markets celebrating the region’s rich diversity.

Presented by the City of Miami and District Five Commissioner Christine King, the festival is a free, family-friendly event designed to honor Caribbean Heritage Month and showcase the deep cultural ties that unite Miami’s Caribbean, Haitian, and Latin American communities.

“Miami is home to so many beautiful cultures, and this event is a tribute to all of them,” said Commissioner King. “Taste of Karnival is a love letter to the rhythms, flavors, and soul of our communities.”

For the Haitian community, this year’s festival will be an occasion of pride, as some of Haiti’s top musical talents take the stage alongside renowned Caribbean and Latin American artists. The lineup includes: Kreyòl La –  Koudjay –  DJ Tony Mix  – Andy Beatz – Rara Lakay — bringing the powerful street rhythms of rara to the crowd.

They will perform alongside international stars like Gyptian, Nigel Lewis, Motto, Amara La Negra, the Bahamian Junkanoo Troupe, the Colombian Cultural Group, and Brazilian percussion ensemble Bateria Unidos de Miami.

The driving force behind this dynamic cultural celebration is none other than Ringo “Rulx” Cayard, a veteran event organizer well known in Miami for having produced similar festivities in downtown Miami in previous years. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of the community, Cayard was the natural choce for Commissioner King to entrust with coordinating this landmark event.

“This festival brings back the spirit of unity and joy we have always seen in Miami’s Caribbean events,” Cayard noted.

Of equal importance, the festival is designed as a family affair — with comprehensive security measures already in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Le Floridien encourages the Haitian community to show up in great numbers this Sunday and take part in this extraordinary celebration of our shared culture, music, and traditions. Whether you come for the pulsating rara rhythms, the savory Caribbean cuisine, or simply to dance in the streets with friends and family — Taste of Karnival promises an unforgettable afternoon in the heart of Little Haiti.

Mark your calendars — and bring the whole family!
