Haiti Moves Closer to 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualification After 5-0 Victory Over Aruba

Date:

MIAMI (Le Floridien) — June 8, 2025 — Haiti’s national football team continues its inspiring march toward a potential place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following an emphatic 5-0 victory over Aruba on Saturday in the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers.

With this latest win, Haiti now leads Group C with nine points, bringing the team one step closer to qualifying for the Third and Final Round of the regional qualifiers. If successful, this campaign could secure Haiti’s spot at the FIFA World Cup for only the second time in its history — the first being the country’s legendary participation in the 1974 World Cup in West Germany.

Tuesday’s Match vs Curaçao: Why It Matters

While Haiti has already secured its place in the Third and Final Round of World Cup qualifiers, Tuesday’s upcoming match against Curaçao remains absolutely crucial. Currently, Curaçao holds first place in Group C thanks to a slight edge in goal difference — +10 compared to Haiti’s +9.

A victory for Haiti on Tuesday would not only secure first place in the group, but also provide a valuable advantage in the next stage of qualification. The top-ranked teams in the Final Round are likely to receive a more favorable position when the final qualification groups are drawn — a factor that could prove decisive on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For Les Grenadiers, there is still everything to play for — and Tuesday’s clash with Curaçao will be a key test in their quest to make history.

The scoring opened in the 29th minute when Danley Jean Jacques found the back of the net. Just six minutes later, Frantzdy Pierrot doubled the advantage with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

In the second half, goalkeeper Johny Placide came up big, saving a crucial penalty to preserve Haiti’s shutout. The momentum stayed firmly with Les Grenadiers, as Ruben Providence added a third goal in the 61st minute.

Moments later, Duckens Nazon delighted fans with a perfectly placed free kick in the 67th, extending the lead even further. Mondy Prunier then capped off the commanding performance by scoring Haiti’s fifth goal in the 86th minute, sealing a resounding 5-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Panama also advanced with a 2-0 victory over Belize, keeping the race for Concacaf World Cup spots highly competitive.
