Date:

(Le Floridien) – The Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG) successfully conducted an operation in Tabarre (a commune in the Port-au-Prince Arrondissement), Saturday, January 6, 2024, resulting in the release of two individuals who had been kidnapped by armed bandits.

Rémy Mackenley, an alleged kidnapper, was apprehended, and a firearm was seized during this decisive action by the police at Tabarre 25. This operation is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry in the area.

The criminal incident occurred on January 2 of the New Year when two women, the victims, were in their vehicle. The kidnappers compelled them to turn off the engine, initiating the harrowing situation.

Subsequently, a press release by the police, published on their Facebook page, disclosed that the attackers had planned to demand a ransom of 600,000 US dollars from the hostages’ family members.
