LITTLE HAITI, MIAMI (Le Floridien) — KAMIKAZ Group Productions, in collaboration with Atiskool — a cultural foundation co-founded by Vanessa Fanfan — delivered a memorable evening celebrating Haitian culture and musical excellence on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at The Citadelle Venue in Little Haiti, in the heart of South Florida’s Haitian community.

The sold-out event drew a mature and enthusiastic audience gathered to honor one of Haiti’s most revered cultural figures, Emeline Michel — the internationally acclaimed vocalist, dancer, songwriter, and producer whose artistry has carried Haitian music onto major stages around the world for decades.

Now becoming a Mother’s Day weekend tradition within the Haitian community in the United States, the annual event continues to pay tribute to iconic Haitian artists. Last year, organizers honored renowned singer Alan Cavé of Zin. This year, the spotlight belonged to Emeline Michel.

The evening opened with an intimate and insightful conversation featuring Michel alongside local journalists James Pierre and Elizabeth Guerin. The exchange explored key moments of the artist’s journey, touching on her career, discography, biography, and creative imagination. Throughout the discussion, Michel spoke proudly about representing Haiti on international stages and using music as a bridge between cultures.

The first musical segment brought an emotional response from the audience as Michel performed three of her most beloved songs, including “Mesi Lavi” and “Manman.” Her heartfelt interpretations created deeply moving moments that resonated throughout the venue.

The evening’s musical atmosphere continued with a performance by Strings, whose musicians energized the crowd before Michel returned to the stage for the grand finale. Accompanied by members of the group, she delivered two additional performances that elevated the energy inside the packed venue.

The emotional high point of the night came during the performance of “A.K.I.K.O.” As the song echoed through the hall, the entire audience joined Michel in singing with such passion that, at one point, her own voice became nearly impossible to hear above the crowd. The powerful collective moment reflected the extraordinary bond between the artist and her admirers.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to Haitian culture and international music, Emeline Michel received four official honors during the evening. The recognitions were presented by Miami-Dade County District 2 Commissioner Marleine Bastien; a representative from the office of Miami-Dade County District 3 Commissioner Keon Hardemon; Katsia Cadeau, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Mayor of North Miami; and a representative from the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami.

Adding to the celebration, Sunrise Airways offered the singer two round-trip airline tickets as a gesture of appreciation for her enduring cultural influence and artistic achievements.

“On behalf of Kamikaz Group Productions, I want to express our deepest gratitude to Emeline Michel for accepting our invitation and for giving the audience such a memorable evening,” said Guy François Jr., better known as T-Guy, president of Kamikaz Group Productions and one of the event’s main promoters.

“We also thank the talented musicians of Strings, our partners, and especially the members of the audience who came out in such large numbers to support this celebration of Haitian culture,” he added. “Their presence made the night truly special. We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year for the third edition.”

The evening ultimately stood as a vibrant celebration of Haitian identity, music, and cultural pride, once again highlighting the strength of the Haitian artistic community in South Florida and the enduring legacy of Emeline Michel.
