About Le Floridien

Over the past three decades, Haitians in the United States have evolved from a largely transient exile population into a thriving and deeply rooted immigrant community. Today, Haitian-Americans are an integral part of the American social fabric, making significant contributions in politics, business, the arts, education, and civic leadership. While the ongoing social and political instability in Haiti remains a source of deep concern, the Haitian community in the U.S. is united by a shared sense of resilience, identity, and cultural pride.

In response to this evolution and growing need for representation, Le Floridien was established in January 2001 as a bilingual Haitian-American newspaper based in South Florida. Dedicated to reliable, independent news coverage, the publication serves Haitians both locally and throughout the global diaspora, acting as a vital platform for information, empowerment, and connection.

Published twice a month, on the 1st and 16th, Le Floridien offers in-depth reporting on political, cultural, and social issues affecting Haitians in the United States and in Haiti. Through investigative journalism, storytelling, and community-focused features, the newspaper gives voice to underrepresented perspectives and sheds light on the complex realities faced by Haitians at home and abroad.

The publication remains grounded in its core values: truth, service, and cultural pride. With bilingual content in French and English, Le Floridien continues to expand its reach and impact—while remaining true to its mission to bridge the gap between Haiti and its diaspora.
