MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (Le Floridien) — A South Florida mother is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say she allegedly subjected her 8-year-old daughter to repeated physical abuse, neglect, and humiliation over an extended period of time.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Timouche, 27, was arrested on June 6 and charged with aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm and child neglect.

Investigators say the disturbing case came to light after deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence in northwest Miami-Dade. When they spoke with the young girl, they observed numerous scars, marks, and injuries on her body that were consistent with abuse.

According to the report, the child told deputies that her mother frequently left her home alone for long periods, including overnight. She also alleged that Timouche repeatedly struck her with a cord, a frying pan, and a cooking spatula, causing injuries and leaving visible scars.

Perhaps even more troubling were the child’s allegations regarding food. Investigators say the girl told deputies that she was often denied regular meals because the available food was reserved for “guests.” Instead, she claimed she was forced to eat expired food or food taken from a garbage can.

The child also stated that her mother would sometimes wake her up during the night for no apparent reason and physically assault her, including striking her in the face with a charging cable.

Deputies reported that the injuries and scars they observed appeared consistent with the child’s account.

A witness interviewed by investigators said she had become acquainted with the girl approximately two months earlier through a neighbor. The witness told deputies that she repeatedly provided the child with food and allowed her to stay in her home because the girl was frequently left alone without adult supervision.

The witness further stated that on June 5, she found the child wandering without supervision and provided her with food and clean clothing.

According to the arrest report, Timouche made certain admissions during an interview with detectives before being taken into custody and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The allegations have shocked many members of the community. Child welfare advocates note that every child deserves protection, care, and a safe environment in which to grow and develop. Cases involving alleged abuse by a parent are particularly troubling because children naturally depend on their parents for love, guidance, and security.

Authorities continue to investigate the case. As with all criminal matters, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
